After spending more than 30 years bringing up a family, I turned to pottery and a new passion emerged. Placing my hands on clay takes me to another place, where imagination and creativity take over from the mundane. Although we can all begin with the same lump of clay, the results are always so varied, and it is with this sense of potential and possibility that I return each time to the table or the wheel.
My pottery is usually thrown on the wheel with function in mind. Being a practical person I like my pots to be multi-purpose: they should be useful and also work aesthetically as stand alone pieces. Each pot is unique and develops in dialogue with the clay. Working mainly in stoneware I enjoy experimenting with form and glazes and I want my pots to feel timeless, to sit well in my home alongside antique furniture as well as in more contemporary interiors. I occasionally experiment with more sculptural pieces, stepping outside of my usual comfort zone.
